Maybe one of the reasons to change the rotation is the gravity pushing it the other way.The other reason is the earthquake could change the way the earth goes.There are different ways that the earth can change its rotation.A earthquake could cause the earth speed to change and possibly change the direction. The most impossible way to change the direction is that a hurricane and earthquake happen at the same time and cause the earth to change.
